Women Empowerment must commence from unlearning every individual psych that has restricted the EVES to kitchen only. With internet flooded with information, women could access information to accrue knowledge in their desired domain to take things further.
Women are known for their multi-tasking ability and managing multiple roles with efficiency. If this core competence that is the proprietary of them could be utilized towards driving the nation’s progressive wheel….the results would be phenomenal.
Government of India has recognized issues that are acting as hindrance in women empowerment and has devised various initiatives that help them thrive. Some of the prominent schemes are listed below for reference:
Mahila E-haat is an online marketing platform to support women entrepreneurs to sell their products online.
Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao is an initiative that takes care of female infanticide and stresses on the need of educating women.
One Stop Centre is another initiative that provides help legally and medically with counselling services exclusively for victims of violence with round the clock helpline (Call: 181)
Working Women Hostels are created near women work hubs to accommodate them in a safe and healthy environment along with day-care facility for their children.
STEP is another novel initiative for women, which implies Support to Training and Employment Programme for Women Scheme. This initiative helps women to get trained under industry experts to raise their employability skills.
Then we have the Nari Shakti Puruskars, a noble initiative by the government in recognizing the achievements of a few women to inspire many more.
The Government is also issuing grants and loans to the women entrepreneurs through various bank schemes. Inspite of such initiatives, many women are not taking off due to ignorance of such prevailing initiatives or due to good peer support. Such events provide both and help women scale up professionally and personally as well.
